Lake Ohrid (Albanian: Liqeni i Ohrit) straddles the mountainous border between the eastern Albania and southwestern Macedonia. It is one of Europe's deepest and oldest lakes, preserving a unique aquatic ecosystem with more than 200 endemic species that is of worldwide importance. The importance of the lake was further emphasized when it was declared a World Heritage site by UNESCO in 1979.

Georg - Seeing the bottom of the lake in this photo, the clarity of the water must be delightful. This is a very pretty scene. I don't know if there is a mist over the lake in the distance or if it is haze, but the sharp color and clarity of the foreground and the hazy background seem to create separate images in my mind. Thad

the water is very clear. it's wonderful to hear that it's a UNESCO site. i like the boat in the foreground. good composition on this one.
