I tend to focus on attempts at capturing things in the setting sun because of the fantastic light that time of day provides. However, one can get just as great light at sunrise. When I snapped this one, the sun had just crested a high, lonesome, and inspiring ridge on the Brtitish Columbia mainland. That's the spine of Vancouver Island off in the distance. Taken from Cortes Island, BC.

A very nice composition with good lighting and DOF but I wished you had straightened the horizontal line, a few degrees to the left. I suggest to do that and repost it again, this picture is great.

Wow, I love the the lighting that you captured in this image. Is that the mountains in the distance? They look like low-lying clouds. This needs to be rotated a few degrees tot he left to straighten the horizon. I always have to straighten my images. Sometimes I think I have a short leg :)) I like how the water forms a 'V' with the land. Very interesting. This is truly a beauty of a shot. I am off the keyboards for a few days with my achy back and almost missed this.!
Thanks for the visit to ~big ship~. I was so impressed by that entire area. (and the size of the ship too :) We were heading to the Olympic Penisula and this was one of our first stops.(Actually, I was impressed by just about everything I saw in the Pacific Northwest). I could have spent all day there but hubby wanted to see the Pacific Ocean before dark *still pouting*...lol
