This image was taken on safari in Botswana. I loved watching hippos, although it was difficult to get close to them. This image was taken from a boat, as it just popped up very close to us from underwater. The water reflections on the original colour image were distracting, so I converted the image to B & W.

difficult to get close to as in extremely dangerous and unpredictable beasts :-) a wise choice to switch to mono I think - gives it an interesting oily/muddy quality. if i could comment on anything it would be to have done a very slight anti clockwise rotation to level up the lines in the image. other than that - great work.

Nice picture. It seems you were in the line of danger there. Thanks for the great picture! Did you mention that you wanted one of them for Christmas or somethin'?

Wow, he really had his eye on you didn't he? The B&W effect is probably what it would have really looked like to me because all of the blood would have drained from my brain as soon as I saw something like this peering at me. :) Thanks for sharing this and post more of your trip if possible. Thanks

Now that is living dangerously, he seems to be giving you the evil eye. You deserve top marks just for being there.

There are three colours, Ten digits and seven notes, its what we do with them that’s important. Ruth Ross

Amazing. Either this guy was really close to the boat or you had a really good lens. Nice image and I love the black & white.

If you lived to be one hundred, I'd want to live to be one hundred minus one day, so I would never have to live without you. - Winnie-the-Pooh.
