this is a wonderful shot. it's so nice to be able to get so close. was it behind glass? 'cause it doesn't look like it.

Dean, Nice work. Always tough working with animals. They often don't cooperate, which adds to this image. Nice clarity in the face. I might have pulled back just a bit to capture more of the head and a little of what appears to be the beginnings of a silverback. Well done. andrew

Such a handsome fellow! I just got thru watching the wonderful movie "Instinct" and so now that I see this ol' guy...it sure makes one appreciate the beauty they give to us, and the idea that someone could even think of hurting them, wow..but then again, there are many people who help "take care" of these big guys also..I love how well defined you were able to get his face...Thanx for posting this...its wonderful..Verena
