indeed, wonderful b&w. i'm not sure about the composition though. i would just like to see it without the building on the left. it draws my attention away from the trains which seem much more interesting here:)
Wow.. awesome photo.. This works really well B & W and the composition is actually fantastic! If the building on the left wasn't there it would be a really good photo..but with it makes it kind of unique.. and yes this is very Victorian!
I kind of like the building. For me it balances out the heavy right side with the sidelined cars. The rails make a good diagonal and the direction of the smoke is even right for your vantage point.
Thanks for all my Comments...I know the composition might look a bit odd but in my defence I took the photo out of a moving Train with my left hand only.;-) Thanks Again. Dean.
it reminds me of a 1950's film, with the girl getting off the train and running through all the people to find her man. I've got an active imagination!! :o) Great job! I really love it!
I like the B&W, the subject and the victorian feel.
For me the composition is fine; a very tight and constrained view limiting the movement of the oncoming train to between the stationary cars on the right and the building on the left.
Without the building it would be good too ... but also a completely different shot.
The only nit-pick (IMHO) here would be just to step right a bit so as to complete the curve of the track the train is arriving on and maybe minimizing the impact of the building .. and ... ( since I am on the 'critical' path here) .. take out those overhead wires.
On the other hand the truncated curve of the track adds a dimension to the shot as one is always trying to see around the building ...Hmmmm
ENOUGH!! I simply enjoy looking at this very much.
Man, this in one great B&W. i missed the original posting, but just caught it on the front page. The composition, the clarity, the DOF...everything about it is terrific!
