A dead tree, in a harsh, yet beautiful world. No editing at all, as I was only 11 when I took that!

There's a desolate, yet calm feel to this picture. Nice job.

You've created an effective mood of isolation through skillful backlight and composition.

I like that the hot spot washed out part of the tree and the overall color and angles. Good one here

Very strong composition here.
I have two tips for you next time you shoot something like this: first move the tree to side of the picture. When you stand there in real life you would also have the tree to the left or right when you look out into the distance. So don't put it dead center. Your composition will benefit grately. Secondly, in this image the foreground is only a silhouette. Therefore the light metering should be applied to the sky only. So point the camera to the lighter part of the sky, press the realease button halfway, make the composition and then shoot. The sky will then become even more dramatic, and the foreground (stays) completely black.
Apart from my bullshitting it is still a very good post!

If you can't find the words, you may as well shoot it...

Its too dark on the bottom left but I think that actually looks good with this image.

You were only 11!!!!!

Holy crap. You are destined to become a monster in this field then. As that is just about all I was doing at that age ... playing in the fields, that is.

The drama of this image is what makes it for me. And there is a lot of it here. So intense. The silhouette of the tree and the lighting. The colour palette, wow. Nice.

I did, once again, read through the posts here and I have to agree with Paul, as I am sure that in hindsight for you, repositioning the tree would only add to this image from a technical standpoint.
