This is a panorama shot of the mudflats at Woodgate, QLD. I like the photo on its own, but I'm not sure whether maybe it is too small when bordered with black to make a good desktop? Any and all thoughts are appreciated! And please vote :)

very nice shot.. i like the lone tree sitting there off center.. as for the bordering, i think the black helps bring out the depth in the photo.. nicely done..

I too like the positioning of the tree. I don't think the image looks too small with the black. Looks great to me.

Hi Jemma, Beautiful shot and great composition. The trees on the right give the panorama a good sense of depth. Black for the borders was a good choice. Very nicely done..

It looks pretty good to me, and i am not bothered at all by the borders. Often a picture like this makes a really good simple background. I alos like the lone tree. It is such an interesting subject. The blue sky also looks really good. It is also well framed with the trees on one side and the sun and clouds on the other side. Two things i would point out though. The cool tree has to dark lines on either side of it from the stiching. If you were to use a blur tool or something like that you could blend those together alittle better. Also on the left side there is one section that doesn't follow the same curve the rest of the picture does. This is probably caused by not moving the camera the same between shots. Even with those two things this shot is getting high marks from me. It looks really good.

You're right, I didn't even notice the wrong curvature!! Lol... thanks for pointing that out to me. I will have a go at the darker lines - artifacts of the different light at different angles. To stitch it together I used Canon Photostitch- I've had success with it with stitching sunsets but had never tried it on daylight photos.

Damn wrong curving-ness... every time I look at the photo now that it all I see!!! Lol...

The borders go well with this shot. I might have cut the green and left it all dry and dead, but still high marks here

Beautiful pic, and the border works quite well in this case. Nice!

You are right, the black is a little strong. I'd try a light beige or possibly sample the blue slightly above the tree. If you go with the beige, also test out the possibility of a pebbled leather texture as well as smooth. If your eye jumps to the background, it is too strong. It should support, not attempt to dominate your very fine panorama., IMHO.
