Hello Emily ... quite lovely colours in your photo here.

Not sure what kind of camera you are using, so I will make this suggestion to you for the future ... include your camera model in your images' accompanying description/narrative.

That way some more tips and advice may be able to come your way.

If I may ... think about your composition a bit more. You can read about things like that ... here.

Simply put ... 'we' need to know where to look ... that is, what is your intended 'focal point' in your photo. I think ... think you want to see that one flower, pretty sure about that. And if so, then ... again, if I may be so bold here ... eliminate other elements that may compete with your viewer's eyes attention.

'Less busy' is probably a better way of putting it.

Having said allll of that :oP ... the colours are nice and natural ... the only thing I would change is the composition a bit. No worries though ... just keep taking more shots and you will get 'there ... from here'. :o)

Nice job, Emily. Your choice of lighting works well with flowers. You chose a beautiful and contrasting flower as a subject.

I would work a little on simplifying the scene. The rest will fall into place a little easier.

Pick an angle that will allow the lines within the scene to lead your eyes to the subject.

Try not to have an attention-getting object near the edge of your frame. Eyes will wander to an edge very easily and you want keep them going in the direction of the subject.

Work on composition and point of focus for now, then build on those basics.

Ciao,

Mr. Leuty

Hi Emily, I am not so sure what to say as I am not a photographer but to me the flowers look as if there was a hard freeze during the night and that they lack color and living in Missouri I know what a hard freeze can do to flowers. Really I am not sure what you are looking for in this picture but this picture reminds me of a time in April when the flowers start to bloom from the Spring warmth and all of the sudden the temp drops below freezing and away they go.........to the ground.
