This is an area in our local community park where the Human Sundial is located. Shown is a side view of the sundial. In the middle of the circle are blocks marked by the twelve months of the year as well as numbers. For example, one would stand facing North in the block marked May and your shadow casts the correct time of day. And it works - it's a fun thing to do and it is always correct except when the sun doesn't shine.lol Enjoy!!!!

What a clever idea and so great to teach young kids. I love the way the pathway curves in the back. Great shot Laura.

Life is a Constant Audition
Since the angle of the sun (called declination in nautical terms) changes the same way and rate every year it is possible to make sundials but they have to be very accurate in the markings. Interesting image for me Laura.

Very interesting idea and a wonderful teaching tool for children - I fear most of them can only tell time if it's a digital read-out! This was most interesting Laura and something I've never seen anywhere.
