Here is an Eastern Yellow Tiger Swallowtail butterfly taking some nourishment from the Joe-Pye weed. This plant is a native perennial with feathery, pinkish-purple flowers that bloom in mid-to late summer. It is vanilla-scented which attracts butterflies, bees and some birds. Joe Pye is named after an 19th century naturalist from New England who is said to have used the plant's roots to heal typhus fever. Enjoy!!!!!! (best viewed full screen)
