Here is an Eastern Yellow Tiger Swallowtail butterfly taking some nourishment from the Joe-Pye weed. This plant is a native perennial with feathery, pinkish-purple flowers that bloom in mid-to late summer. It is vanilla-scented which attracts butterflies, bees and some birds. Joe Pye is named after an 19th century naturalist from New England who is said to have used the plant's roots to heal typhus fever. Enjoy!!!!!! (best viewed full screen)

Very fine close up of this butterfly, it makes a good contrast
to the flowers in the background.

That's a beauty, Laura. Just my bizarre imagination working, but the way you have done this with the sky showing makes it looks as if the butterfly is in some trees, and has a wing span of about 30 feet! (I know...I'm weird!) Outstanding capture.

Great close up of this wonderfully coloured butterfly and the background really adds to the overall image as well.
Superb capture, but maybe too much of a close up and it maybe look better with more background showing?
Still a class photo though!
