My son got involved with his college cricket team. I love the photo, a sport played by teams in uniform on the campus quad with a few fans watching from the lawn. Isn't this what amateur sports is really about?

The image seems a little out of focus to me and tilted to the right. Not a lot, but enough to make it appear off balance. A difficult shot to frame because of the large building which either gets cropped or the people are so small and you loose the action. I might have favoured more zoom and lifting the action up from the very bottom but without seeing the result it is difficult to tell if that would improve the image. A good attempt at a difficult shot.

This is fine as is. A slight blur make it seem more alive (to me st least) I still can't understand the sport though, but...

Things are more like they are now than they ever were before.

The tilt is debatable... you are positioned to the left of the building so the horizontal lines will be out of whack! Your vertical lines seem to be ok (lamp post and middle edges of the building). Chris is right on re. the zoom! A distant view such as you have minimizes the importance of the players... maximizes the importance of the building... notice how everyone refers to it. Zoom in on the action... you will have less in the image but they often say Less is More! Warning... I do not want anyone to think I really know anything!... but every once in a while another agrees with me. :o)

Why do I look at inside vertical edges... the outside edges can be affected by the lens... and actually have a trapezoidal effect to them.
Which I am not seeing in this case.

It was my intent to produce an image no so much of the players and the action but of the atmosphere of a real amateur sport played in a collegiate setting. My use of the building was deliberate to bring a reference to the setting and the players as part of the whole rather than the focus of the image. I think I wanted the buildings to represent the college campus so I wanted to get them in sufficiently to comprehend the setting.

My ambition may have been more than my skills and talent permitted.

Thank you for the feedback - I am very grateful for each one. I write this reply not as a defense but a statement of my intent and goals for the image. Your comments will help me to further refine my efforts to achieve that goal.

As above the image is out of focus if they were moving at the time, it means you need a tripod to capture this type of scene. But saying that it is a interesting photo and thanks for sharing.
