The Badlands are east of the Black Hills. They lend them selves to some beautiful scenery and photographic moments. They also have their place with much to do with the Sioux Indians and the exploration of the land. I took this on a bike ride during the Sturgis Bike Week.

This brings back memories! Very nice capture of the badlands, Jodie! I recall many times as a kid, the family vacation out to the Black Hills, & the badlands were always a stop for us! We had a blast out there just climbing hills & enjoying the beauty of it. I think mom & dad just stopped to let us blow off steam after the long ride in the car. lol Although I've driven by these in recent years I haven't stopped. Last time I saw these was at night under a full moon. BEAUTIFUL!! Wish I had had my camera back then! Well, thanks for the memories Jodie..now I gotta get back there..it's all your fault!! LOL

Very Nice. It's been years since I was thru the Black Hills, too. In the fifties my parents took three or four vacations "out west" (trips to Yellstone, MT Rushmore), and always passed thru the Black Hills as part of the trip by car. But your trip was on a bike, what a great way to see the country! Thanks for sharing.

I have also heard of the Badlands from my Grandmother Jodie but once again did not have such a great capture of this fascinating area so thanks for sharing this...one day I will scan some of my Grandmother's old photos of these places for you...meanwhile, this is a wonderful shot with such vibrant color and an interesting perspective with the grassy hill in the foreground...nice complimentary framing too ... good work.:Pat.
