Hay You

Another photo from my walk the other day. There are not too many bales of hay around thanks to the weather we have been having here in the UK. I used to love walking on the round hay bales when we were younger. You had to have a mate push it forwards as you walk backwards. Could hurt if you stopped and were steam rollered :) I have to say though we made sure no hay bales were damaged. I am so glad I was brought up in the countryside.

Who? Me?

Great shot of some lovely countryside Jo. No rain clouds this day.

I miss the old rectangular shape that bales used to come in as they rolled out of the back of the baler. My grandfather and uncles used to have "hay hooks" that they used to grab the darned heavy things and then load them up on a wagon which would then drive everyone nuts as it lumbered slowly down the road to the farm proper where it was destined to take a ride up the hay elevator and into the dusty barn attic to be stacked neatly. We sometimes got lucky enough to be granted permission to play.....whoa....looks like I've taken a trip down a memory lane <<LOL>> Lovely and evocative pic. You did a great job on my head :)

A lovely idyllic setting Jo, and a clever title. A shame there aren't more hay bales. It looks like a perfect area to be out and about as a child or adult. Thanks also for your narrative. Appreciate your sharing your country view :^)

I need to catch up on things so can't comment too much. But I love all of your fine images :)

I love this picture. You have captured the essence of haying. The trees and the rolling hill behind the field are great. I can almost feel the heat and smell that sweet hay in those round bales.
