Very fine capture, their maneuvers look so unreal.

with all do respect...this does not look like a photo at all...but it does look like one plane was shot and someone did some cutting and pasting of that one plane....this is evident by the outline of the planes....very jagged and not smooth at all...but thats my opinion....can someone clarify this? so personally if i am right then i think it is misleading to call it a real "shot"

The reason it is a little less clear is because I have pulled the photo forward(Larger) so it would fill up the screen which has spread the pixels out more.Although my camera has a motion setting the jets were coming toward me so fast it was hard to track them. This was taken without a extra zoom lense.I only used the one with my Dimage A2 which is why I brought the image forward to increase it's size on the screen. There are plenty of tricks to play with photoshop. This is not one of them my man.

jojo, considering the shutter lag on the DiMage cameras (I have an A1) it is a wonder you got the shot at all. I can't shoot anything that is moving with the A1 and expect to get decent results.

Great shot! These guys fly just inches from each other, a small movement would have all of them in a big ball of metal and fire! and it has happened!

Thanks Michael and Matt for the comments and imput. You are right about that shutter speed Michael. That is why I explained to Eris about tracking and anticipating where they would be in a place as I clicked the shutter. This type of a shot with the camera is mostly luck and the results are not quite what I would prefer but there you are:)

Don’t peace and respect me man, I have no doubt what so ever about this picture. It has been clearly modified.
You still have to explain why the fourth smoke trail is missing.
I mean, despite the jets flying in a tight formation, you can still notice separate smoke trails, there’s no reason that the fourth one is missing…

I see a clear fourth smoke trail. If you look very closely there is a very short trail from the furthest jet but it quickly combines with the other smoke trails.

I suppose, yuvalcohenyuval, you'd be willing to place a $100US bet on your theory? Let me know.

Since this member did not respond to my PM about letting me send the original image I sent it to Darrryl and Tracy who are Mod's on this site.I hope this ends the discusion about this image. At the time I submitted this I don't think I even knew how to extract an image with Photoshop and although I manipulate colors and such I'm not into that type of photography if you look at my gallery. Thanks for all who commented on this image even the people who questioned it's truthfulness.

Fine, let’s assume that the fourth smoke trail really exists... or at least imagine that it really exists.
If you zoom into the picture and focus at the fourth jet (the furthest jet), you can notice that the cockpit is unlike the others, or in general unlike any other cockpit.
It doesn’t have an elliptically curved geometry like a real jet cockpit. Notice that it seems to be jagged, as if was modified…
This cannot be caused by a camera. The camera only takes a picture. It doesn’t modify it.
This is can be caused by modification via special software, for instance photoshop.

And homeboy with burger picture… are you willing to contradict my theories with a hundred British sterling pounds bet?

I have to admit, I've seen and taken some crap pictures in my life, but this one does not seem like a pic taken with a bad camera, it looks like edited.

A camera that produces bad quality like this pic would not have been able to actually focus so well on a jet. Even further, the smoke coming off a jet is a thick plume, then it levels and thins out.
Although it might be possible that they maybe "yanked it down" for the turn.

Even further, if it is a photo what is the purpose of it? To show how tight the Blue Angels can manouver? Doesn't really give it much photographical value..
I don't want to put you down, I've seen your other pictures, they're really good, but this one.. well, frankly I don't see how you can disagree on it looking edited.

And I do wonder about the detail. Detail inside the planes' edges is sharp, but the edged aren't. Plus the light seems to be coming from the top, but the sky is evening blue.. weird.
To make this a critique, I quess I need to somehow give my opinion on how one could make this better, so here goes:
I'd soften the picture, clear out the planes edges and maybe try to change the lighting to make it seem the planes actually are in place.

With no pun intended at all, just trying to understand something I don't.

I realize this shot was posted a while back, but after reading some of the comments, I felt like I had to chime in. yuvalcohenyuval was really out of line and you handled yourself like a gentleman. Bravo Joseph, and GREAT SHOT! I'm going this weekend to see the Blue Angels in Chesterfield. Wish me luck. Gail
