This really needs to be viewed full screen to get the full effect of how the colors seem to " pop " against the weathered wood of the house. Great pic, straight into my favs & a big ol' 10 for you !! : )

Now this is gorgeous! What a lonely desolate place! The colours are just wonderful....and the spot you took this pic from is just perfect!! The grey of the house and the grey weathered piece of tree in the front..well its all just beautiful!!
What a colorful capture you have here Joe. I might have included the peak of the gray, weathered house just to give a sense of complete, but otherwise, you have shown us the beautiful color range that we get to see from pinks to reds to yellows to pale green to dark greens. I especially like the way you lined the tree on the left parallel to the image and the cedar on the right. Makes for nice framing. Another job well done my friend :))
I bet this was a beautiful home in her days. I can only imagine the time .and energy that went into building it. I bet there are alot of people that would love to bring her back to her original state.Looks like it is in a nice quiet setting also. Nice photo JoJo :)
Thanks Everyone.Missouri has plenty of old barns and houses to explore and photograph. It is'nt hard to find one once you leave the city.

Hey there Joseph,
Looks like you bagged a good one. Nice shot, it has it all, colour, composition, and a great subject matter. I love these old farm shots, but alas, there should be someone farming it. Loosing too many farms................John
This we know: the earth does not belong to man, man belongs to the earth. All things are connected like the blood that unites us all. Man did not weave the web of life, he is merely a strand in it. Whatever he does to the web, he does to himself.
I really like the rich colors of this composition.. The house itself is a real "fixer upper". The dotting and elegant spacing of the colorful flowers throughout the photo lend balance to the whole composition. The gray wood of the house looks so natural. I like angle you chose from which to shoot the "home". Great discovery of this "once was" structure.

wonderful picture, would love to know the history behind it, but who knows maybe the owner of the house might see it and tell us.... Thanks for sharing
I only, fortuitously, came across this fabulous shot as a Featured Image on the Caedes front page. As well as being captivated by the beautiful image, the title also immediately reminded me of one of my favourite Dead songs. Photograph and song - American Beauties both!

P.S. C-Index of 49?!!? Heads would roll, if I had my way. Still, it's the download figures that count. Good taste has certainly prevailed there!
