I was asked to give a comment on this photo. I am only an amateur (very amateur!) in photography. As a lay man and an ordinary viewer I'll give you my honest opinion.

The subject (the flower) certainly is pretty. But the broken petal(s) in the right upper corner tarnish the beauty. It's a negative point since I can see no indication of an intentional inclusion of this defect on behalf of the photographer (say for the purpose of getting a message across). The layout of the flower is vertical but the framing is transverse (which is quite a good choice for a desktop picture); this has led to a) a feeling of squeeze from the sides and b) while the cusps of the top and bottom petals are missing, space has been wasted on both right and left sides. In short, framing of the subject is not ideal.
The clarity of the photo is superb. You can easily see ,not only the dew drops, but also the fine details of the petals and stamens. I have seen very few photos with this degree of clarity and focus. There is literally no grain or noise in this photo! And I don't think the image has been through any "processing" (Photoshop etc.).
The lighting is quite adequate and appropriate: the aim seems to be the upper petal and the stamens; yet the other petals are well-lit and not overlooked. Another plus for this photo is the fact that there are no "accessories" or "distractors": images of flowers often have leaves, stems,...included within the frame. These may prove either pleasing or distracting. This image has no such addition and I believe it's been a clever idea.

Overall, I'd give this photo two green lights and one red. One should bear in mind that B&W photography -in my opinion- is WAY more difficult than colour photography. Well done Komal!

Sincerely,
Rokh

Love the pic, love the simplicity. Maybe play with upping the contrast a bit and see how that looks, but overall very nice!

92 percent American teens would die if Abecrombie and Fitch told them it uncool to breathe. Would you be in the 8 percent laughing their asses off at the others?

I agree with Rokh about the space on the sides, but other than that I think it's really nice- especially since it was taken on a cell!
