Newport, Rhode Island, USA. At The Breakers, one of the Vanderbilt 'summer cottages', the Loggia is accessed from the Grand Hall (an understatement for the scale and decor of that room). The loggia's stone floor, limestone columns, tile and tromp l'oeil ceiling, looking out over the terrace and lawn to the ocean. There were no photographs allowed inside the building. I was gently chastised for taking this image, even though it was outside - sort of. Enjoy!

I can see them objecting to photos inside, but outside? Many places now will let you photograph as long as you don't use flash.
Don't know what the big deal is on that since it is seen by the public anyway.

Quite a view from here,
Thad.

Very nicely composed image Thad. A wonderful view and you got it in time before someone put his/her hand in front of the camera (happened to me once in a castle).

My thanks to all who leave comments for my work and to those of you who like one enough to make it a favourite. To touch just one person that way makes each image worthwhile. . . . . . . . . .. . . . "The question is not what you look at, but what you see" ~ Marcel Proust

Good work getting past the security barriers and bending the rules by snapping this shot. Great details and a nice view in the photo. Very nice composition of the scene and great lighting.
