SanDiego, California, USA - Midway Carrier. Below the flight deck is the hangar deck. At sea, it is a beehive of activity. With the Midway now a museum, the hangar deck has a display of older military aircraft. The one shown here is of significance to me; during WWII, my father served in the Marines in the Pacific, flying in the second seat as bomber and navigator on one of these. The Dauntless was a two-seat dive bomber and scout plane used during the war.

It's amazing to me the size of the ship to be able carry such cargo. What a super shot, and I think it's so neat that you have some connection to the story behind the image. tigs=^..^=

A great shot Thad..I thought it was a fighter at first but it is a smaller bomber I see. My father was a Sargent and served in the pacific and in the occupying force in Japan.

The signage at the museum is incorrect. It's a TBF Avenger. Google pictures of both and you will see. Great pic anyway.
