This is an old water tower found in Chicago. History has it that when the city had the great fire back in the early 1900's the water tower was one of the only structures to survive. However, the worker did not because he hung himself inside rather than burn to death. The structure itself is very pretty.

Oh my, what a macabre story behind this beautiful water tower. I thought that water towers were great ugly metal tanks that were raised high above the buildings that used the contents. I guess they don't make 'em like they used to. Nice shot in the dark with the low-light conditions! :)

I wish they would make water towers around here like that. We just get the big ugly tanks in the sky. This looks like it would be difficult to shoot. You have done a good job keeping most of the unwanted elements from getting into the shot. It is a bit overexposed which possibly arose from metering on a darker area of the scene. A shorter shutter speed would fix that. I like the perspective which gives it that grand look. Interesting story you have included.
