This is a detail shot of the list of names from the Arizona Memorial in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii. Now, I’m not the kind of person to tear up at memorials such as these, but this memorial got to me. You walk into the memorial and it's dead quiet. No one speaks, or if they do, it's in a whisper. You hear no engine noise from cars or other boats, all you hear is the water lapping around the wreckage, the wind and the sound of the flag flapping. Then you walk into the Chapel, and you see all the names on the wall, and it hits you. It’s not just a date in history; this really happened and those were real people. I was fine until I saw my last name on that wall. That's when I lost it. I’m not posting this because it’s a good photo or because I want to know what other people think of it; I’m just posting it because I can. Feel free to post your feelings. That is all.
