while other birds were getting smokey slinky looks to them, this poor sparrow had to eat dirt.

Looks like sunflower seeds to me...or maybe just the hulls. I bet he found an edible morsel. :) Nice clear capture again!

Interesting how closely the sparrow matches it's surroundings. If I squint, the bird seems to disappear. I would have preferred that the sharp focus be on the bird rather than the ground just beyond. This is a nice addition to your extensive collection of bird photos.
