This really isnt what people might call an 'amazing' shot, but its ine of my favorites just because of how simple it is. Comments and tips are appreciated.

Well, ok since you asked so nicely ...

Kind of curious as to what your intention with this photo is?

As in, what you are/were trying to convey to your viewers?

What with the flower being blurred and the backdrop/background being in focus ... there is some conflict, conceptually speaking ... present to my eyes and to my mind.

'Most' would expect the exact opposite, I would think.

(/\ Just thinking out loud.)

Now as a suggestion, to provide a leaping off point for some tips and advice to come your way ... add in the make and model of your camera to your accompanying narratives.

For example, and if your camera has the functionality of some manual options and adjustments... well, how's about I let cambridgeincolour.com explain things:

"Depth of Field"

Which, coincidentally might be the next site contest theme/subject challenge ... check that stuff out ... here. (And by all means, cast a vote, suggest another option if you wish to do so.)

So ...

I, too, like the simplicity of your photo.

And I also like the varying and contrasting textures within frame. That of the softness of the flower, the stones, the concrete wall(? ... eyes are tired here, can't quite tell from the perspective you've used if it is a wall, or concrete pad/walkway, etc.) in the background.

Being critical, and in my humble opinion of course ... think that if the flower were more in focus (as that is what I perceive to be the subject) ... things would get kicked up a notch or two more.

However, and with that said ... you def provided an image to ponder some.

That's a good good thing. :o)

... ...

Sooooo ... sorry you asked for some tips?

:oP

Kidding, kidding.

Last, but not least ... thanks for sharing this personal image with us. :o)

Based of the photo - nice gravel. Foreground or background? You got to choose one for emphasis.

The tulip really jumps out at you. To me it's hard to look at. As some of the above have mentioned, I would have liked to have seen the tulip in focus and the background softened up a bit. Thanks for sharing your work.

For a foofy it's a fair try Mariah, but don't get discouraged by the comments above there only trying to lead you in the right direction. Photography is a lot of fun hey but it can't be learnt over night.

Keep on uploading. (o:
