Found this fella on our Sunday Afternoon Drive yesterday. Stil a baby and about 40mm long. And not very shy at all. Hope you like him too.
(Speke's Hinged-back Tortoise)
My gosh, I don't believe I have ever seen a shell pattern like that. What kind of turtle is this? You sure captured the detail in his front feet also. As slow as turtles move, I might have tried laying on the ground and getting a turtle's eye view capture. But then, maybe his pretty shell wouldn't have been displayed as well. Good capture.

Really great capture Marietha! I do hope you moved this cutie pie off the road and out of harms way. I love that shine in his pretty shell and the skin and nails are awesome. Love it!
I looked this up in my book. It is the Speke's Hinged-back Tortoise. Adults attain a length of 175mm, so this one must be still very young. I am glad you all love him too. :)
I particularly like the perspective you used. Against the road surface, the contrasts in colours and shapes on the shell really pop and add some great visual interest. Good compostion as well.
Very good detail and clarity. Hmm, you sure you are just a beginner?
Thanks for sharing and the accompanying narratives.
Art and information? *caedes ... it's a good thing. :)
Please forgive me: I want to thank everyone who views and comments my images, I try but it is hard to write individual thank you at times. Please know you are appreciated!
