I took this a while ago, while i was out with my family in North Wales, somewhere, using my manual SLR. that day some kind of insanity took hold of me while i was in that forest almost as if i found home & yet i couldnt grasp it. i went nuts with my camera & i took many ashot but this was my fav. sad thing is none of us really remember what the place was called or where it was...sigh

Very interesting feeling in this shot. It's allmost like in a dream. It's the fisheye distortion tendencies of the perspective maybe. But also the intense colors and dark shadows... It's a very unusual shot to come from you. I like this very much. Good thing you posted it. If I may leave some criticism as well I think you should maybwe have touched up some of the dustspecks from the scanner in the darker areas... ;-)

of course u may...thats a whole point of posting anything. thank u Klas for the suggestion. again its boiled down to the degree of contrast that i have, due to which i am unable to see what u are referring to, but i did run a dust & scratches filter over it. obviously not enough of it. thats the problem with scanners,i should've made it darker perhaps.. thanx again : )

Avi, I waited to recomment here... I'm not sure waht exactly to do with the adjustment of your screen since we use different platforms. What calibration program do you use when you choose your contrast etc? I did an extra calibration with my LaCie BLueye right now just to see if I was wrong about the dust specks here. They are still there... foremost in the dark areas of the lower right corner.

I'm not sure I would recommend the dust & scratches filter in cases like this. I think that would effect the clearness of the whole photo. I feel the focus in this one is a bit "softened" so I guess that's the reason. That effect does make the photo more dreamlike though so I like it. I would use healing brush or cloning stamp when eradicating specks of dust. I think I'll try and use my old scanner some the next week to see if I can make good scans myself without artefacts. I thind that's best before I give some more "good" edvice. ^_^

If you don't feel like putting a lot of more energy in this, then I'm more than happy to make a try to remove the artefacts for you if you send me the original file. :) That would be a useful experience for me since I've not made so many dustremoval edits before. I could tell you then what solution I found to be the best...

Cheers,
Klas

Thanx for ur comment Chamaelon, Wales is beautiful, i appreciate nature a lot more than i used to becoz i dont get as much of it as i did in Sri Lanka & Wales has a lot of unspoilt territory.

Klas, as for the synching thing thats baffling me...i'm still stumped on how exactly to go about the colour synching. Grim has some links on that with regards to contrast which works for me. & u can find that here if u havent seen it already. but that is to what Grim has setup in his screen. & as for the image above, i did run a dust & scratches filter on it with a radius & a threshold of 1, but i had failed to notice the dirt on the bottom right of the image mostly (i think) & u r rite it does effect the clearness of the image, hence the low degrees of the dust & scratches. I also used the heal brush on other parts of the image so i know exactly what u r saying now, i must say that it is a failure on my part for not noticing it in the first place b4 uploading. & maybe i should give the scanner a good clean : )

I feel as if the above image has been here too long for me to do anything about it, but its still in the new images gallery so maybe i will do something about it, i will copy & paste the comments.or alternatively if u want to muck about with, Klas, u have my permission to do so. : ) thanx you for chasing that up i see the error in my ways now : )

I'd love to make a try as I said but only with the original file. Just send it in email if it isn't too big. (Not much over 3MB at least.) I feel it's easyer to make a good edit when a file is basically untouched. And I'd like to see how much clearer the photo can become, without that filter. :)
