On the final day of our Zambezi canoe trip we were racing against a thunderstorm to get to the extraction point. We got drenched....

it's not that far to the shore, paddle over there and run for cover, geez...

We tried that, but that 'shore' was marshy,muddy grass with no cover for about 1.5 kilometres inland - don't forget we would have had to carry our canoes too...

If you can't beat it, at least get a picture of it! I can "feel" this happening. Been in plenty of water storms. They come quick. Including the front of the canoe added the feeling of being there. Great shot.

It's pretty impressive to see the curtain of water sweeping across like that. Heavy stuff too, not a light little shower. All I can think is "Wrap that camera back up and get rowing!" But thanks for stopping just long enough.
