Same rose - a month old now and still looking gorgeous. I took this shot backlit from the snow outside our window.

Gorgeous rose and an expert capture and presentation. A summery rose against the white of snow - looks perfect :)

That said.. and back to your image..
The first thought that came to mind, and without having had the benefit of reading your accompanying narrative, was.. "someone did an excellent masking job".
Using the snow to backlight your subject was a great idea. Save you some time in the editing chair.
The composition is strong. The colours are natural. Detail and clarity are wonderful.
And that lil' pop of blue peeking in from below.. really adds to the colour palette/contrasts.
That said..
+favs for me.
