This remainds me of the "hippie dippies" we used to make back in the 60's. After Mardi Gras when we'd collected legions of cheap plastic beads, Mom used to give us tiny foil biscuit pans where we'd strip off the beads and arrange them into patterns, then put them into the oven to melt into fantastic shapes. We'd then peirce them, put them on strings and wear them as medallions. As photography it'd difficult to really get a hold of, because of its lack of focus. I realize that was the point of the excercise, but for me it's diffictult to grasp. Perhaps if you superimposed a figure in the center of the swirl, so the swirl would be a background for the subject it might be easier, but it's hard to say. I do realize I'm in the minority here.
