Oak Creek Snows

Several days ago I was looking through the new images and found one of "Oak Creek" near Sedona Arizona. It sent me on a field trip through my old images and I finally found the ones I took there four years ago. I had never been there before and was staying in Phoenix. I had an extra day so I decided to go take a look at a place I had seen such interesting images of. When I left Phoenix it was 95 degrees, so naturally the thought never crossed my mind I may need a coat where I was going. As you can see things turned a little cooler. I got some interesting images but at a price. Man was it cold.

Very nice picture, I really like this one. Just has a great look and feel to it. A little on the haunting side. Great work.

Michael..this is just outstanding! It almost looks like one of the old classics that has been painted by a famous artist. Its an amazing look of lace patterns, so crisp and cold appearing that one would almost be afraid to touch any of it in case it might break in your hands. I also find the colour of the water is just gorgeous. Almost a burgundy and I cant help but wonder what causes that beautiful colour to show like that. I imagine you were brrrrrrrrrr cold for sure, but I know one thing, your taking that photo and posting it here has to have been worth the satisfaction to you...I know I love this picture!! (and by the way thanx for doing the rework on my beach pic)...verena

Each day I must take one more step, no matter how small or how large, but I must take the step.

It does look very much like a painting Michael. This is a pleasure to view. The colors are blended perfectly.

Well I guess it should have been cold. I looked up Oak Creek on my mapping software and it's almost up to Flagstaff. That's high country for sure. What beautiful and unique colors. The redish soil and small tree redish tree trunk showing through really places a "crown of beauty" on this capture. I like the variety of texture in the snowy area of the photo, some sharp and clear and then there's the soft snowy area in the background off to the right. Well done as usual.

Oak Creek is a divine place. I can remember when you could just park on the side of the road and go down to slide rock. Did you see that. Your photograph is lovely. I have not ever seen snow there, lucky you. VERY nice work. jen

Well worth the cold, I'd say. How'd you get snow in Arizona? ^_^

Wow Michael...the snow on the trees almost looks likes frozen fog....it is covering everything!! Not like the snow we get here in the Midwest. There are some unique colorings here. Thanks for sharing your "shivering cold" trip with us! "~)

Great photo Michael. I love the texture of the frosty trees and the contrast against the burned "water hazzard." Nice shadows, good time of day. It must have been absolutely beautiful there, nice image!

Gee Michael. When I saw this I was sure it was a manipulation, but wow! For it to be real is even more exciting. The red tones of the water are superb against the white background. It looks "dark and deep". Thanks for sharing.

No trees were killed in the sending of this message. However, a large number of electrons were terribly inconvenienced. Everyone has photographic memory; some just don't have the film. COME ON YOU GREENS, UP THE ARGYLE.....
