Had you not mentioned your initial irritation with the tree.. I would have thought it was intended.
And.. worked.
And.. still does work, btw.
The diagonal line(s) created by the branches adds a lil' somethin' somethin'.
More so, your central composition is a strong element, in and of itself.. carrying the whole thing off.
And there is a good good balance between the Needle and that of the elements of the branches/leaves within frame. Can still see all that needs to be seen.. with some added visual interest.
Caveats?
Well, you certainly challenged yourself and your camera on the note of exposure.
As a suggestion, I might have been tempted to make some.. some, that is ... adjustments on the notes of Shadows and to a lesser degree, Highlights. To bring out more detail to the underside of the Needle and create more visual separation between the Needle and the branches/leaves..
Hope you don't mind me putting a picture to some words in the above.
As well.. if my editing ends being too 'bright', from your perspective ... then, at least you have an indication of what is working for me and my monitor. And should be taken with the proverbial grain of post processing/constructive critiquing salt.
When you are uploading.. check to see if you have checked an option/changed a setting ... that is uploading a smaller version, as opposed to the original resolution sizes of your photos. (Could be the result of your camera's interface software, could be.. .)
In taking the tour of your galleries to date, all your posted images are on the smaller side.
And.. leads me to think that an option akin to 're-size for forums' is in effect.
In other words, bigger is certainly better.. so your viewers can see what you saw and captured ... bigger and better -er.
Ok, here are the resolution sizes available to me.. for your image here:
720x540 and 960x720
Thinking, that even with your 'cheap' digital camera in hand ... that you should be getting images that are far larger.
Perhaps.. and as a suggestion ... add in the make and model of your camera on your next upload's/posting's accompanying narrative. Might provide a leaping off point towards solving this particular e-mystery.
... ...
"Watson?"
'Yessir?'
"Bring me my Deerstalker and pipe! We have a new client!"
'Erhm.. you sold both at last weekend's garage sale, sir..'
(*slap*)
"None of that backtalk, Watson! I will not endure any insubordination!"
'Yessir. Right away, sir.'
(*Watson leaves the room to go purchase another Deerstalker and pipe for Holmes, but.. not before stopping in the hallway to black out one of Holmes' teeth on the portrait hanging there*)
And.. worked.

Something like this:

;o)
That said..
Clarity and focus are good good, too.
