Wow...I love this shot...it's so interesting and different...
I think it works fine without visibility of the head...great capture...and it's nicely centred too!
Well done :)
The angle that the gull fills the frame is excellent and very eye catching. It would be nice to see the eye but not necessarily the whole head. Now the focus is put on other features of the bird which is equally well I think. I am most attracted to the nice backlit wings and the spread of the tail feathers:-)
I like this view as is. Nothing wrong with a good game of peek-a-boo now and then (even for birds) and this puts the focus on the wingspan which works for me. Nice post! ;)
I love this shot; what an interesting moment you captured! Most folks don't really like gulls because they are such garbage pickers. But they are among the most talented fliers I've ever seen, and their cry can make you think you're near the sea. They also photograph so well (well, combined with the talent of the photographer of course!). For me it's a 10, mostly because the angle, timing, clarity and light is unusual!

Amazing timing you have to capture this. Not sure if you had to crop the image, but if so good job not trying to center the bird body. I like how the head and body are very crisp but the wings just slightly blurred from the motion. Anyway, I added this to my favorites today so thank you!
gorgeous photo. the composition, the sharp detail on the gull's body, and motion blur on it's wings all make this photo a first class image. as for the score...ignore it. congrats on the perm status too, btw.
