I can't take full credit for this one, as it is a tweak of a set of Apophysis parameters.

There's a few subreddits for fractalists.

On the creative side of things.. this is a new kind of fractal for me.

More 'organic'.. simply put.

Cool! It makes a great background. It certainly has self similarity which is a property of fractals. However, I don't know what is meant by an "organic" fractal.

My phrasing, Lightpainter.

Lil' more 'abstract' (= 'organic') than my usual stuff, simply put.

And..

Great work Les. Those colourful balls - are they stars and planets being sucked in by the "black hole". Lovely colours and creation.

Maybe too organic... it just tried to bite me. Just kidding. It reminds me, in a fanciful, fractal way, of sea foam and seaweed. Things don't get much more organic than that...

Since you're deconstructing every comment, here's my take on it.

The close, intertwined weave of filaments could be anything from fungi to textiles. Their ambiguous nature draws the viewer in for more clues and this builds interest in the puzzle. And I especially liked the addition of a plane of focus, giving us a false cue that it was shot through a lens and that this an actual object. Was that POF added post work or rendered from the start? It's a wonderful deception. Your color palette is terrific too, and gives the image punch and a light, festive air. It's a colorful and intricate masterpiece.

Thank you, Russ.

Really appreciate your 'deconstruction' and sharing your thoughts. Insofar as; "Was that POF added post work or rendered from the start?"

The newer versions of Apophysis do have "Depth Blur" as a functionality now to mimic 'a DOF effect'.. however, I did not employ it.

Rather that of the variation plugin, "Blur".. and then manipulating the transform itself to achieve the same visual effect (more or less.. I had hoped).

So.. rendered from the start, simply put.

Thanks again, I do appreciate it very much. :o)

I'll be honest here les, i know nothing about fractals, the software that makes them ect.. not sure my comments would even matter to an artist of them... but i do know what my eyes like. the blur placement? seems to suck you in and then once in? your twisted & twirled among all kinds of shapes of different sizes immersing you in all kinds of color. fun ride for the eyeballs and a great DT..fav

You just might know more about fractals than you think, Chris.

'Cause.. in the end.. regardless of medium/genre ... it still comes down to the basics of what makes a good good image. Composition, visual weight, balance, et al.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts.
