This is a shot of several tombs in a New Orleans cemetery. The grief and emotion that comes out in these sculptures can be a bit overwhelming, and it takes a bit of effort to figure out how to present them, but ultimately it's worth it.

In this shot I used a small aperture and a slow shutter speed to get all the capitols in focus even though they were at varying distances. In the developing process I pushed the contrast to get that grainy look.

Thank you Reg.. It is beautiful.. B/W is the only way to show the grief.. Not only of the tombs themselves, but for the losses from the hurricane.. This s just a tiny portion of the reason why this beautiful city should be saved..

I agree this is a wonderful capture and black and white was the only way to go with this shot. I really enjoy the framing in the shot made by the trees and the dark object on the left bringing the focus into the statues.

My suggestion for improvement comes only on the framing for the desktop. I notice that you pushed it to the right (I am assuming for the use of icons on the screen) but I would have still preferred it to be centered, or if pushed over, maybe a short poem that also reflects the mood.

What a lovely response. Thank you for this reaction. I took the day off that day when i realized that the fog was so dense. The forecaster predicted that we would have fog until 10AM, and that gave me four hours to wander the cemetery looking for shots with the foggy background. Afterwards I fell in love with this one.

Tracie, I only wish that I could write poetry, but I suppose I should be thankful that one muse speaks to me.

I love the contrast in this one that gives the marble and concrete such a pure glow while darkening the framing elements of the foreground stone and tree. As if it pulls you through the darkness into the light and safety.

Very interesting piece u captured now, its seem a deep surfering, intriguing and the mysterious way to get in to their secret garden, U managed very well the perspective, the desicion to posted on the right size is great, it gives the perception on long way to come...I like a lot the feeling into this, the mysterious way to see over these scultures that belong to somebody under the ground as belong to some loves one into their hearts. Great work!!
