During a rainshower the other day I ventured out to shoot some rain photos, and I saw this flower. Reflected in the droplet hanging from the petal is St. Mary's Hall - the dormitory in which I stay when on my annual retreat.

Stunningly beautiful and elegant. The water droplets on the petals and falling from the flower make such a pleasing view. An excellent post and a keeper for sure. Thank you so much.

After a bit of an absence, partly vacation but mostly tax season...busy for bookkeeping businesses... I'm glad to be back out here with at least 'some' regularity. I've missed everyone and am glad to have a little more time again.

Ditto on the comments above. The background color is good too. Thanks for sharing. :)

Lovely shot ! the flower looks larger than it is, the rain droplet is the give away here.
Most people stay indoors when it rains, glad that you didn't great shot.

Love the reflection in the shot. I wonder why it came out so bright against the generally darker shading of your upload?

About the only explanation I can give is that the wide aperture made the background wash out while leaving the droplet (and the reflection) in sharp focus. Since the building is bright white it makes the droplet appear bright as well. The shot is exactly as it came out of the camera. I didn't adjust it or touch it up at all.

Now this is a flower shot with a difference, and I find the reflection in the raindrop fascinating. The flower itself is very beautiful, and the subdued tones of it help to convey the mood of a rainy day. I can only think that most people who voted on this did not look closely enough at the reflection, because it is that that makes it, for me, an exceptional picture.
