Basically, i am new to the photography scene, and this would be my first photo uploaded onto this site. I am not really good. My goal was to kind of look at objects in a different way to express it differently. bad lighting in my personal opinion. But hopefully i am on the right track =D thank you.

You are on the right track.
Nicely done.
Sometimes bad lighting is what makes a great photo like this one.

I agree with you that the lighting could be better, which might help with the granularity of the image. I do like your approach of looking at objects differently, though.

Keep it up!

I like that you tried this, it is unique for sure. The lighting is a bit fuzzy but yet it works. I'd like to see yoiu try it again, and maybe even turn a lamp on at a distance to give this some depth, and I like the idea of the money. Welcome to caedes, there are lots of helpful idea here, and just ask, and a lot of people will be willing to help. It's like a second "family" here. We all learn from each other. Verena

Life is not easy for any of us. But what of that? We must have perseverance and above all confidence in ourselves. We must believe that we are gifted for something and that this thing must be attained. --Marie Curie Polish-French chemist

Um, it would be much better if i took the photo of the coins in the light, it might have made the quarter shine just a bit more, making it really Noticeable? Im not sure :(

Actually, a great experiment for one who's on the road to grow. Welcome to Caedes and keep 'em coming. I think your lighting is wonderful in this example and your dof (depth of field) is first rate. The noise level is a little high due to under-exposure but if you'd had flash it might have blown out highlights. It would be fun to continue this experiment using different lighting techniques. Try using natural sunlight from a window, flash, using a lamp placed close enough to light the subject without entering the image, light from below, in front, behind and so on. My grandfather was a pioneer in photography lighting and loved experimenting with all kinds of light. I might have to upload a series of some of his images at some point. Keep shooting and have fun! anne :-)

Tell me if you like it or don't but be sure to tell me why! I promise to always give honest and sincere (albeit gentle when necessary) critiques. MY NEW YEARS TIP for all, go have some fun with your new gear you got for Christmas. Do some things you rarely or never do. If you always shoot scenics, go shoot macros (or as close up as you can get.) Practice on different subjects, try new lighting techniques, bracket your shots (shoot the same image at different exposures and different apertures), get down low and shoot from your back, your belly, and your knees. Bend, twist, lean and climb up on things. Shoot toward the sky (carefully - blown out sunlight is NOT attractive :-) Just do something different and amaze yourself then share with us :-) Love you Caedians.
