I am fascimated by these plants. They survive for hundreds of years in the desert and expand and contract as they take in and use water. A close up shows the effects of time and the elements.

You're right, this plant are fascinating and you really captured it well! Really interesting picture, I love the detail! The only comment I would make is I think it would be even more effective if it was a bit more in focus, but other than that, awesome job!

They are for sure interesting. I know birds make holes in them so they can have their nests there too. They do remain around for many years....my parents llive in Az. and have sent me some gorgeous photos of the desert. I like what yoiu wrote. Verena
