One of my favorite trips was to Prague. Taken in the old quarter late at night as my wife and I were strolling the city. When I took the photo, it was mainly for the effect the light has on the alley. It was only after the picture was developed that I noticed the man in the background. Was he really there? Only the city knows.

What can I say? Such a mood of solitude and isolation in an ancient city meant for love.
The tall narrow street with its' lonely seclusion and covering of shadow cast such feelings of dejection.
The singular lamp shining in the night with despair and the doors all closed sheltering against the dark night; impose upon the singular figure as if tangible clutching at his coat with a heavy vaporous grasp that reaches into his chest making every breath and step a burden.
But as so often in life there is light and hope at the end of the passage with dim illumination that is beyond sight but not reach. Prague the city herself providing comfort and guiding the way through the shadows.
