I have been asked to write a comment on this photograph, and this is my first detailed review, so here goes. I like this picture, it works on two levels. You look at it first as a mass of subtle autumnal colours, the different levels of focus adding texture to the scene. Then there are the birds, crouching in the nest, hiding as they should do against the backdrop. But your eyes wander away, as nature intended, you feel obliged to move your focus along the branches away from the vulnerable and into the chaotic mass of the background that in itself is another artistic picture. Perfect camouflage, nature at her most subtle. Well captured, it deserves a higher C-index.
