Bbbrrrrr I know it's not a spider, but it still gives me the kreeps!
Very good macro though!! You can even see the little bugger has red eyes. Excellent!
Gabbels, I don't think the red pouches are it's eyes - those are the small brown spots on top of the head. Assassin bugs use the hinged, pointed structure on their heads to inject a toxic saliva into their prey which dissolves the inside of the victim. The assassin bug then sucks out the fluid - akin to what spiders do. I'm guessing, but I think the red pouches are either a poison sac or a muscle to control the killing probe. These bugs are also notorious for inflicting a very painful bite on humans if they aren't handled very carefully. They're small but mighty I'd say.
where did you say these guys live? I don't want to inadvertently move into their neighborhood!! Again a marvelous macro, and I think you're raising the bar on my icky tolerance >>LOL<<
"I never looked for it, gave it no name; yet I knew it always, when the gift of peace came. I stood quite still for the moment that it lasted...Then the light shifted slightly and the moment passed, leaving me...with the lasting echo of its presence.." Diana Gabaldon
