Anything that excites me for any reason, I will photograph; not searching for unusual subject matter, but making the commonplace unusual.

To GunnerMan, it was done in Vue 6, but not by playing around. I spent a lot of time and effort on it and then waited 87 hours for my antique G4 to crank out the 1800 x 1200. I have Vue 7 Esprit fully installed, but it won't run. Same for Vue 7 Pioneer Beta - they're both completely unstable on machines running OS 10.5.6. I'm not happy about the situation, but I've sent crash reports to Apple and I know e-on software is working on a fix.
I think you might have misunderstood, by playing around with, I usually mean "using." I in no way was trying to imply that it looked like you cranked it out in 10 minutes to see what the tools could do. It is amazing the cloud work you did. You are really good with the atmospheres.
I heard Vue 7 was having lots of problems with the Apple versions, I hope they get it fixed soon. I just asumed you were using Vue 7 because your terrains do look so infinite and far away and the cloud work again is stunning.
Yo, Russ.... Breathtaking realism here! I downloaded Vue 7 - - the Pioneer beta version - - the other day, but am still working primarily with Vue 6 Esprit. Seems each version requires more and more RAM and render times gets longer and longer. This piece rocks, Russ! Wen
I just got this in the booth & my first reaction was a serious jawdrop. This is amazing !!! Jawdroppingly beautiful & so incredibly lifelike. An amazing render & I'm stunned it took 87 hours to render, but it was well worth the wait. What a beauty ! A definite fave for me & Wendy's right.... this piece rocks.
Thank you for all for the kind and thoughtful comments. Once and awhile I manage to create a piece that doesn't make me cringe later. The positive feedback will help keep me on track to do better work in the future. Once again, thanks.
Amazing! I wish I had the money for these programs, but I guess I'm stuck with unregistered Terragen for now. :(
Great work though, you can SEE the effort you put into this, and I like that.
“For a long time it puzzled me how something so expensive, so leading edge, could be so useless, and then it occurred to me that a computer is a stupid machine with the ability to do incredibly smart things, while computer programmers are smart people with the ability to do incredibly stupid things. They are, in short, a perfect match.”
Catching up with my faving again... I tend to take my time deciding which to fave (notices date of post and coughs with embarrassment). But yours get through no problem. :-) This one has a soft, creamy feel to the clouds; the blues are realistic and the detail has a distant, majestic feel. I don't think I would sleep for a week if I'd come up with an image like this... gorgeous.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.
