Five seconds later a bumblebee landed in the middle of this five inch wide rose blossom and I got a pretty good shot of that visit, but still like this version better.
After some fact checking, it seems that these tree-like roses are most often called 'rose standards', dating back to Victorian times. This particular standard is about 8 feet high and has an open, not highly branched interior. The blooms are sparse and all have the same bowl-shaped structure. I may post the bumblebee version later under Insects/Spiders. Thanks again.
