One of the many wild hummingbirds at the local arboretum. Shot with a new Sigma 150-600mm F5-6.3 DG OS HSM C lens on a Canon 6D body. The lens has the weight and portability of a cinder block, but as a do-it-all long zoom, it gives very nice results.

Great shot of this Hummingbird, Russ. You were able to freeze the super speedy wings and obtain clear detail. I'm presently assessing if I need a 150-600 as it will set me back a little over a grand. With posts like this, I'm almost reaching for my wallet.

Outstanding stop action shot! That lens sounds like something a weightlifter could handle and that certainly isn't me! I will just have to make do with my lightweight super zoom Canon if I want to try a shot like this.

I so want a good zoom lens, but the weight of them is a concern for me. This sure turned out so well, clear and excellent job on the stop action. tigs=^..^=

Superb shot of the hummingbird Russ -that lens is working out very well for you. I'd probably injure myself with that "cinder block." It gave you great results - good luck with it. Great Capture!!

Thank you very much everyone. I'm very pleased you liked the shot.

There are two versions of this lens, and I have the 'C' model. The 'S' or Sport model has more metal in it's construction, is weather sealed, and has a more complicated internal lens arrangement that gives it slightly closer-focusing ability. But at the cost of a larger lens diameter & front filters (105mm vs my 95mm). You pay your money, and you take your pick.

Whew, incredible. You look into the liquid eye of that little hummingbird and can almost see it thinking! You must be thrilled with your new purchase, but it's not all down to that, as you know. You give me that same lens and you'd just get a blur, and maybe lots of cactus shots when I give up. Looking forward to seeing more.
