To tell you the truth your composition and the subject do not illustrate the journay as much as you would probably like. The first thing that comes to my mind is the discovery of the lonely cone which here seems to be lost among the pine needles. However it is so well blended into the scenery that it does not focus my full attention any more. I would suggest to take a photo from the ground level and not from above. The cone could stand out better.

It has a great texture to this....nicely blended into the grasses. I have to agree with Ewa above....take this a low angle, and you will have a terrific picture

I like the simplicity of this allowing the textures to speak for themselves :-)

I, too, would like to see a closer-up of the cone, because the cone itself is so interesting. However, that said, I just love THIS pic the way it is! Getting closer would (I think) tend to blur the grasses and then I couldn't have the fun of sorting out the grass tangle, enjoying the interplay of natural grass colors, and getting a glimpse of the ground beneath. My vote is to keep this one and take another!

Cool shot mate. Regarding the angle of the pics is quite conrovertial as mentioned above. How ever few effects and color adjusments can make this shot more interesting than this. Which eventually the viewer will not worry of the angle very much.

I like the fine natural color and the lines that the pine needles create.Good eye for capturing this.
