The Chenda is a cylindrical percussion instrument used widely in the state of Kerala where I live. The chenda is mainly played in temple festivals and as an accompaniment in the religious art forms of Kerala. As always I enjoy your photos that become my own personal National Geographic Magazine. Looking at your gallery is a lot cheaper than flying to India. Your photos represent your cultural heritage to my limited knowledge. They are a virtual slice of life.
However, I think I'm supposed to write a critique and commentary on what I think about the artistic quality of the photograph. This leaves me at a disadvantage because I don't think I've ever shot anything that would qualify as "Life in My Village". But I'll give it a try. The red van in the background is distracting, especially the reflective glass. The shutter speed should be a little faster unless the drummers are using melting wax for drumsticks since some of them have motion blur. There's an awful lot of negative space above the drummers. Maybe some cropping or lightening would help.
Other than that, "Nice Shot".
