Welcome to Caedes Samantha.
The duck does look lonely in its dark surroundings. The water bubbles shine very nice and brightly, and you have captured the duck's movement well.
My thanks to all who leave comments for my work and to those of you who like one enough to make it a favourite. To touch just one person that way makes each image worthwhile. . . . . . . . . .. . . . "The question is not what you look at, but what you see" ~ Marcel Proust
I'm not crazy about the placement. The duck's nose and head are almost bumping up against the frame, and his rumpus got cut off. If this was a bit farther out, with some more room in front of his head and bill, it would help. (and he's got a bit of red-eye)
Great Samantha - I think it's the ugly duckling just turned into the beautiful duck. She won't be lonely for long, especially if you are around with your camera!
I am intrigued by the interaction of light and water turbulence. For a shot in the dark the water and the body are nicely sharp. The super tight crop does not work for me, all of the duck or all of one detail but not half way between either.
