Hi folks, this is my 13 year old niece 'Chelsea'. I took her shooting for the first time today, and she was just fantastic, from 100 feet she nailed the target 10 times and even hit the bull once, darn good eh.... so it looks like I will be buying her a gun for Xmas......The gun is a 'Remington' made in the USA, and you dont see many of this type in the UK.

That's a huge gun! My husband and I really enjoy target shooting. I think it's wonderful you've introduced her to it, and whether or not she gets into it, it's good to teach her how to safely handle guns :)

Great shot! Always nice to see a kid interested in shooting sports. I'm a firm believer that a kid that is out with a fishing rod or hunting rifle is a lot less apt to get in trouble than those kids hanging out in the mall or on the streets.

Cool capture, beautiful niece, and a great looking gun! I haven't been shooting since I was 18!! Way way too long ago! Bet I couldn't hit the target again if I wanted to!..hehe..Don't tell my brother though. He's a cop and wouldn't be happy to hear that.

And, I'm totally all in for kids learning how to properly handle and shoot a gun!! You & I must be on the same wave length...I just got back inside from taking some shots of my handgun!! Hadn't even lOOked at them yet, perhaps one will turn out so as I could post it tomorrow.

Why do the pictures come out square when the lens is round??

~ Ditto to all Mark, great capture! Awesome scope you have on it. I don't have a rifle yet, so for now my "38 special" will have to do, lol. Congrats on your niece's sharp shooting.

Boy Mark, you sure can see her really thinking on what to do. Great clariy and detail. This really is a great action capture.

Breath in, exhale, relax, & squeeze the trigger
A golden rule for both firing air guns, & shooting photo frames. I mustn't brag but..................... takes me back to my teenage years Mark. :o)

Big brother's watching you :o) A mistreated dog should try to leave a deposit on their masters best carpet, after all it's important to establish who's boss ... Welcome to the last resort. :o)

I'm also curious about the rifle. I build them, myself, and am quite a fan. It's good to see young people taking up the hobby. safe firearms practices can be tremendous fun, and responsible hunting particularly rewarding too. - About the photo, I like the expression on the girl's face. She's really concentrating as we all know too well. Stabilizing that cross-hair can be pretty tough at range - specially after a cup of coffee or two! I'm thinking you put a filter on the image - the hands, and maybe the face. It works well, and it's not too conspicuous. I also like your use of depth of field to isolate the subject in space. The background blurs out enough to make her really stand out. Good job.

Nice 'shot'
I know nothing about guns but this looks most impressive. I am equally inmpressed with the shine on that beautiful hair.
A wonderfully clear and well focused image.

i'm all for guns. in this country they are trying to make you register and license them. if that occurs only criminals will have guns.

I'm thinking Rambette rather than Rambo. I like Regmar's analysis, I wouldn't have spotted the filters otherwise but now that I see them it's obvious how much work you've put into this. I'm not a fan of guns but I am a fan of anything that gets a young person absorbed, and this photo is absorption exemplified.

The way you isolated her face and hands and the gun help to make a point about the relationship between weapon and shooter is very effective. It is a great image of concentration.

I like the way you captured the concentration on her face and the shine in her hair. Composition is really good too. Nice work.
