Tried hard to get an expressive photo of this flower. Planted it some years ago into my garden and than forgot the name. It's about 50 cm / 20" high and has a single stem with all these little red and white coloured bells at the top.

Perhaps someone can tell me what it is.

Haven't any idea about the species but the flower's a beauty.
Having said that, it could use a much better uncluttered sitting to show off the shape, colour and contours. If this is in an area other than your own property and you have no control over positioning, then an tighter close-up of one to three flowers in focus, and use a wide enough lens opening that will throw everything else out of focus and eliminate or subdue the distractions.

Nice colors but the focus and background nullify them!

Good capture, can't help you with name. like the colors but since the flowers curve down toward the ground you might think about getting lower so you can see the open flowers. I know the angle may seem weird but I believe it will make a big difference.Try to take it more as a landscape shot where the focus is on everything and not one particular flower. Just a thought on my part. Still a good post.

A lovely and quite unusual specimen indeed! But I can't help you with the name. A good attempt, however the blooms are a bit out of focus. Perhaps if you try it from a different angle or at a different time of the day. I have also heard that using a large solid color poster board behind the subject helps. Keep experimenting! :)
