This is something of an experiment. The softness and variations of pink were beautiful, but the fine detail on all of the petals tended to minimize that effect. I shot for just enough depth from front to back (petals) and used a noise reduction program to smooth out everything but the petals edges to retain edge sharpness. Think I overdid the smoothing a bit, but did retain the soft tonal variations.

I kind of like the smoothed petals, really gives it a foofy presentation, and the color is excellent. Tigs♥ =^..^=

I like your experiment, Doug. The overall softness worked out very well & I tend to believe roses should be smooth or soft. I love that shade of pink too. Beautiful work.

Good to see you back, Doug. Thank you for the informative narrative. I wish everybody tried a little harder to explain the process. It's a beautiful image. I've had a little stomach flu for the last few days; so to me everything looks a little too bright. I might have tried one click of negative gamma. Better yet I should not have eaten that expired sour cream.
