Just a few miles South of the headwaters of the mighty Mississippi River, it's a relatively small meandering river on the outskirtsof Aitkin, Minnesota, and just starting it's long journey to the Gulf. Certainly not much of an image for posting, but thought it might be of interest to any who have see this river in flood stage further South.

I like the low angle capture, good and sharp image.

The river stage level does look high & I like the lighting on the water. I live about 30 miles from the Great Mississippi River, but this one (as it appears to curve to the right) reminds of a smaller winding river in my area that eventually flows into the Mississippi. Wonderful capture, Doug.

Hi, Doug...

The banks indicate a lower than flood stage level. And why would you call this "Big Muddy". I wish the water from my well was half this clear. Your vantage point indicates that you took this from a bridge or low elevation flying saucer. Perhaps you can post one tomorrow closer to water level. I think you were trying to convey the width even this far upstream, but the foreground gets rather dull after a bit since I have the attention span of a gnat. The focus and clarity are phenomenal. And I don't even want to know what that white froth in the foreground belongs to.

Well everything has to start somewhere, this looks like just a good a spot as any other. A nice perspective in this capture and good lighting in the scene.

The difference between a bad artist and a good one is: the bad artist seems to copy a great deal; the good one really does. ~William Blake
