this is the 18th century higgens farm windmill... it was moved to its present site in brewster from ellis landing on cape cod bay in 1974... a year later this "smock" windmill was placed on the national register of historical places... and, no, this one is not a private residence. :-)))

Lots of diagnonals, shadows, trees that have followed the unrelenting advice of the wind, the arms of the windmill itself. The fence leads the eye. The light is so icy blue that the windmill has a cool glow. A beauty.

I like the way the tree on the right seems to lean toward the windmill. And what dusa said too. ;-)

My 'puter crashed the other day so I'm trying to get my new one up and running. ;-( This new OS (Vista) is going to take some getting used to. Sorry I haven't been commenting as much as I would like to. ;-) Steve

I love this shot, Mary. The colors are painterly and the scene is lovely.

You will be led to the knowledge of the internal things which are invisible to you, by the external things which you see before you. . . . Even so then, we can represent to ourselves in thought the Author of all that is, by contemplating and admiring the (visible) things which He has made, and ever brings into being. - Hermes
