Not sure what program you used but you really do have a great scene going there. You have a great feel of distance and a an overall great scene. Great for your first attempt and I know if you keep at it you will end up creating some extremely stunning images. Now let me tell you what I would do to make this scsne go from good to great...

First I would stretch the terrains/add terrains so I couldn't see the "end of the world" like you can now. The valley is good but I would maybe add a few smalll rolling hills so it dosen't look like a flat plane. Eliminate that huge tree back there and maybe line the edge of the mountain with some smaller more to scale trees and bushes and try and get the textures to blend better using a smother blend setting.

The foreground if you want to keep that rocky look I would add a few boulder objects and rocks around, mainly on the sides of those steep hills. Maybe put boulders on top of the hills to emulate the Tent Rocks found in New Mexico. Add a few pieces of shrubbery around as well. Of course these are just MY ideas for the image take it all with a grain of salt. You have some good shadows on your foreground but the background is missing some shadows. I would put a light over there to give the mountains a bit more depth. Another thing you could do is make the air more clear and use fog and haze objects to hide your terrain edges and give the scene some ore depth, charachter, and mysticism. Mayve even bring some dense fog over the foreground and have those hills comming out of it.

So like I said you have a great scene here and I alone could think up a million possibilities for it. Just try different things out, keep experimenting. Thats whats so great about CGI, if you can dream it, you can create it.

ALSO I suggest you visit renderosity.com it is more of a 3d image website. has lots of galeries for lots of different 3d rendering programs and you can get a lot of ideas over there. caedes is more of a photography orented place meants for desktop wallpapers. If you want to look at LOTS of CGI and get lots of constructive comments renderosity is a great place.
